December 2023

Congratulations to several of our followers who successfully submitted applications for graduate studies in several countries. The Fall application season is usually a busy one for both our followers and volunteer reviewers. We thank everyone for the maturity and professionalism with which we did our best to support each other. We look forward to hearing about interview invitations in early 2024.

September 2023

Congratulations to Dr. Ukpai Eze on his recent promotion to the position of a Senior Lecturer in Biomedical Science at De Montfort University, UK. We congratulate him on this phenomenal accomplishment and wish him all the best in performing his duties.

Congratulations to Nte Sunday on his recent transition to the University of Uppsala, Sweden, for Masters studies and for winning their Global Scholarship. We wish him all the best in his studies.

Congratulations to Aminu Aliyu for winning the Nigerian Petroleum Development Trust Fund (PTDF) scholarship – one of the most prestigious in Nigeria – to study for a PhD in Electrical Engineering (Renewable Energy) in Malaysia. We wish him all the best in his studies and career next steps.

August 2023

Congratulations to Ifeoluwa Olaniyan, Chinonso M. Chris-Emenyonu and Nuradeen Yusuf Garba on their recent transition to graduate studies. Ifeoluwa will study Masters in Engineering Management at the George Washington University, USA. Chinonso will study PhD Geography at the University of Waterloo, Canada. Nuradeen will study Masters in Food Science and Human Nutrition at the University of Florida, USA. We wish them all the best in their studies.

Congratulations to Annette Okafor for completing MSc Data Analytics and Technologies with Distinction from the University of Bolton, UK. Annette was the first to transition through our foundation. We are very excited by her accomplishment and wish her all the best in the years ahead.

Congratulations to Dr. Zeribe Nwosu on accepting a faculty position as an Assistant Professor at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA. At Cornell, Dr. Nwosu will also be an NIH FIRST Assistant Professor. The Nwosu Lab will commence in October 2023 in the department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (MBG). June 2023

Congratulations to two 2022 Ambassadors of the Zeribe Nwosu Scholarship Kingsley Kikiowo and Emmanuel Otumala for receiving the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation Scholarship 2023. Kingsley and Emmanuel are both Law Students at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. See LinkedIn for more about Kingsley and Emmanuel.

Congratulations to Dr. Ukpai Eze on his recent publication in the journal Environmental Analysis Health and Toxicology. In this study the authors reported that chronic consumption of herbal/medicinal plants causes organ-specific injuries in mice, suggesting that caution should be exercised in the consumption of these plants. Congratulations to Dr. Zeribe Nwosu on his recent publication in the journal Nature – The study showed that pancreatic cancer uses the metabolite uridine to sustain its survival when glucose is limited. The authors further showed that blocking uridine utilization reduced tumour growth in mice, suggesting that this pathway could lead to new treatment for pancreatic cancer. Read

Congratulations to Dr. Ukpai Eze on his recent publication in the journal Antibiotics – This cross-sectional study addressed the issue of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) – a major public health threat. It highlighted antimicrobial stewardship programmes to improve and advance the use of antibiotics, increase the rate of antibiotic treatment and decrease the problem of AMR, and the barriers encountered by Nigerian Medical Laboratory Scientists in implementing antibiotics susceptibility testing.
